Melbourne local Andrew McCubbin is one of those one-man band dudes, competent in vocals, guitars, bass, piano, percussion, and destined for a solid future. This independent release is testament to his song writing skills and perhaps his love of the lingering, melancholy atmosphere that organic, minimal type music can provide. Despite a lack I the mastering and production of the album, which fails to deliver the depth and and highlights that these songs deserve, McCubbin along with the help of cellist Julitha Ryan, intuitively explore the thoughtfulness of McCubbin’’s musical introspection. Perhaps that layer of artful production is the only thing detracting from what would otherwise be a stirring piece of work.
